If You Could Choose One Song To Be Played On Bay FM What Would It Be? “I Don’t Know Why” Sung by Rebbeka Tornqvist. (Epic)

This song was written by Shawn Colvin, who is an immense talent in her own right as a singer songwriter, she writes so beautifully about real issues. Her own version of this song, although really good, is taken just that one step further by Rebbeka, to create a truly beautiful and sensitive song.

I wish the more obviously talented singers on programmes like the X Factor would listen more to this style of song and songwriters, as they could then be encouraged to listen more. The screaming and shouting thing, sounds so “old Fashioned” and they would find that sometimes more can be achieved with a whisper.

What Is Your Favourite Genre of Music? 1930’s and 40’s music, because they are generally happy, hopeful and extremely melodic, they also have the most beautiful chord sequences behind them.

Why Did You Want To Be Involved With Bay FM Radio? Because, community radio is a really worthwhile project. It brings music, news, local views and humour into the homes the local community at the flick of a switch. You don’t have to have any real I.T. skills and once it’s tuned in it’s there forever. Radio also provides an opportunity for young and old in the local community to work and pull together, in presenting and producing the shows, with a real understanding of what is required for every generation at a local level. Don’t forget, we all get old and some people can’t get out of their homes to enjoy the locality, at least they can keep in touch with the community with their radio. They can also interact with it, by phoning in with ideas suggestions or complaints about the local issues. Larger television stations and commercial stations just don’t have the time or space in their programming schedules to accommodate the individual’s point of view. I wish I could put even more time to it.

If You Could Spend An Evening With Anyone Famous Dead or Alive Who Would It Be, And Why? Winston Churchill. There was someone who made a lot of mistakes, but stuck by his ideals to pull Great Britain through a very tricky situation and always retained his sense of humour. He was then to be voted out of office at the earliest opportunity by the public. It does show that Britain’s democratic procedures work though! I bet he would have been an interesting character to have a beer with.

If You Won 2 Million On The Lottery, What Would You Do? ‘HINT HINT’ I don’t do the Lottery, I’m really quite happy with my life, always skint! but realise that things could be an awful lot worse. I have never met anyone that has more money than me, who is happier than me. Conversely I have met people with little or no money, who seem to be very happy indeed. So the money would just create more problems I fear. More time, or better use of it would be a better thing for me, but you can’t buy it.
