About us
Bay FM Radio is a radio station unlike any other on the dial; a station staffed by volunteer presenters and journalists talking about real life issues. We don’t talk about Big Brother; we don’t get paid to play the same record you heard ten minutes ago; we don’t churn out the Top 40 all day either, in fact, Bay FM Radio is different in every sense.
Bay FM Radio is a radio station unlike any other on the dial; a station staffed by volunteer presenters and journalists talking about real life issues. We don’t talk about Big Brother; we don’t get paid to play the same record you heard ten minutes ago; we don’t churn out the Top 40 all day either, in fact, Bay FM Radio is different in every sense.
Community radio licences are intended for social gain and community empowerment. We aim to use radio for:
· An engagement tool for the local and wider communities
· An education and training resource
· An information and advice service
· A platform for local talent
Our programmes cover all aspects of the life and music of Exmouth. You name it, we can play it – and if it’s not on the schedule and you want to hear it, get in touch! We know we could showcase more local talent, discuss local topics, focus on education, local sport and say what needs to be said about the community of Exmouth! You tell us what you want to hear on Bay FM Radio.
Bay FM Radio belongs to the Exmouth community and exists to celebrate and support our diverse, artistic and vibrant town. We aren’t looking to make a profit, just to make great radio. We can’t describe how excited we are about the possibilities that Bay FM Radio will open for Exmouth and the surrounding communities.
Bay FM Radio as part of the community will be a very powerful communication tool for local schools, businesses, and for the tourist industry, and could play a big part in helping to raise money for charities and good causes. We have already made a pledge to help the Exmouth RNLI raise money as we worked very closely with the lifeboat service during our trial broadcasts in September ‘06 and in May ’07. We helped raise awareness about the Quiet Mind centre and raised money for the Exmouth Festival.
Bay FM Radio’s ‘Broadcast Foundation Courses initiative will begin to assist newcomers to gain entry to the broadcast industry and will offer training to the new and old, as soon as we are on air
